Questions & answers
What buyers ask before the first order
Minimum quantities, incoterms, payment terms, lead times and documentation. Where a real answer depends on the deal, we say so rather than quote a number we would have to walk back.

01
Working with Martsym
Do you supply from a fixed catalogue?
No. We source to a brief. Bring a specification, a volume, a target landed cost and a date, and we go to the manufacturers and wholesale platforms we already work with and come back with costed options. Where a preferred line stops being competitive, we look for an equivalent that is.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
It depends on the direction and the product. Some programmes run at full container loads, others are viable as consolidated LCL shipments alongside other goods. Tell us the volume you have in mind and we will say plainly whether it works or what it would take to make it work.
Can I buy across more than one trade direction on one account?
Yes — that is the main reason the company was set up this way. Apparel, cosmetics, building materials and general merchandise sit under a single commercial relationship, with one set of terms, one schedule and one point of contact rather than four supplier accounts.
How quickly will I get a response?
Normally within one working day. A precise brief gets a more useful reply: include the specification, the volume, the destination market and the date you need the goods.
02
Pricing and terms
How is pricing quoted?
Against a written specification, not a conversation. Any price, lead time or availability we give in response to an enquiry is indicative and confirmed at the point of order, once specification, incoterms, payment terms, inspection points and delivery schedule are fixed in writing.
Which incoterms do you work with?
The incoterm is agreed per contract and depends on the direction, the route and how much of the movement you want to control. We will set out the options and what each one changes about cost and risk before anything is signed.
What payment terms are available?
Terms are agreed case by case. Payment terms can be extended on established accounts with a trading history; first orders are normally on secured terms. We would rather set expectations honestly at the start than renegotiate mid-shipment.
03
Logistics and documentation
What lead times should I plan for?
Lead time depends on the product, the origin and whether capacity has to be booked ahead of a season. We schedule backwards from the date goods are needed on site or on shelf rather than from the date a container happens to fill, and we tell you the realistic date rather than the attractive one.
Do you arrange freight and customs clearance?
Yes. Sea, road and multimodal freight, consolidation and LCL for mixed orders, export documentation and customs clearance, warehousing and scheduled call-off, and delivery to site, depot or distribution centre.
What documentation comes with a shipment?
Certification and conformity documents, market-specific labelling, and batch traceability and provenance records. We treat that paperwork as part of the product specification and verify it before goods leave origin rather than discovering a gap at a border.
What happens if goods do not match the specification?
We inspect before shipment precisely to stop that happening. If something still goes wrong, claims handling and supplier remediation sit with us — you deal with one accountable contact rather than being passed back down a chain of intermediaries.
04
The company
Can I verify the company independently?
Yes, and we would expect a serious buyer to. Martsym Trade Ltd is a private limited company registered in England & Wales under company number 15967593, with a registered office at Suite 13079, 43 Bedford Street, London WC2E 9HA. The number, address and filing history are public at Companies House.
Which categories are you registered to trade in?
Four, and they match the SIC codes on the public register exactly: wholesale of clothing and footwear (46420), wholesale of perfume and cosmetics (46450), wholesale of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment (46730), and non-specialised wholesale trade (46900).
Do you manufacture any of the goods yourselves?
No. Martsym is a trading company. We buy from manufacturers and authorised distributors and sell on to buyers; we own no production and we do not present another company's factory as ours. What we add sits either side of manufacture — the sourcing and vetting before it, and the inspection, documentation and logistics after it.
Do you work with suppliers as well as buyers?
Yes. If you manufacture in any of our four directions and have available capacity, send your product range, certifications and minimum order quantities through the enquiry form. We also act as a commercial representative for manufacturers and brand owners entering markets where standing up a local entity is not justified.
Question not answered here?
Send it with the category, the volume and the market you operate in, and you will get a direct answer rather than a brochure.
